Tutors

Our academic tutors are all qualified teachers. Many are based in London but we also have tutors located around the UK. All tutoring requests are very different and our aim is to find the right tutor for you, to meet your specific requirements. Some pupils ask for tutoring to support their preparation for an examination and others use it to help increase their subject understanding and consolidate their school learning. For families who chose home schooling, tutoring (home or online) can be one way to cover the curriculum and ensure pupils will be fully prepared for an examinations they wish to take.

Online tutoring

Many of our tutors have experience of tutoring International students via Skype, Zoom, Teams or Google classroom. Since the pandemic, our UK families have moved to online sessions and many have decided to stay with this, for the added flexibility it provides. The choice of online or face-to-face tutoring will depend on the age of the child and the tutoring aims (plus any Government recommendations regarding COVID). We use Teams as our platform to deliver sessions, with all tutees having their own secure space to download materials and upload homework. We are also happy to post resources, as needed, directly to tutees.

Academic support

Many of our tutees request on-going general support with some of their academic subjects. This has been especially relevant due to the COVID disruption over the last 18 months. Some students feel they have missed sections of their course, have reduced motivation or lost a confidence in their ability to succeed. Academic support for younger children is available for parents who are beginning to think about entrance exams to the top Public Schools, and want to ensure their child maintains a class position near the top.

My daughter sat her GCSEs. Physics was probably her weakest subject and she described it as “scary”. The tutoring sessions were invaluable. Not only did he manage to get her to grasp the many difficult concepts she was struggling with but in his very calm manner, he took her fear of the subject away giving her that much needed confidence. He also helped her with exam technique, explaining what the examiner was looking for thus ensuring she got the full marks for specific questions. Josie says “he broke things down then built them up step by step.” She attained an A (double science) which a few months prior would have been unthinkable. Thank you.
